The current political climate is exactly what’s needed. Think about how music, fashion and politics have worked together to define an era.
From the 1920s to the 1990s:
We have a clear picture of politics, fashion and musicfor each decade……. up until about 1996. It’s been pretty much the same since then (recycled versions of past things… no innovation).
We used to wait 20 years before recycling trends…. Now we are doubling up on things that were recent copies of copies.
THAT MEANS: THE ESTABLISHMENT WON
We were meant to BUY THINGS and go home.
We stopped questioning authority and gave in to rampant consumerism.
Innovators were not respected… only those who rushed to market and CAPITALIZED first. The only form of validation we’ve required from anyone was for them to have….. MONEY.
Now we see the other side of that equation. If you don’t believe this line of thinking is what’s put us in our current position, then you’ve never read/watched “Animal Farm”, “Farenheit 451”, “1984”…. listened to Bob Marley, Nina Simone, George Carlin, Fela…..
The examples are endless of how ART tried to warn us. Those in power responded by handsomely rewarding the most unworthy artists and marginalizing the poignant ones. In doing so they taught us to place a monetary value on TRUTH………
AND SO: Truth and Honor are no longer qualities. They are commodities. Only the rich can afford them. Due process, customer service, respect; only granted to those with money. Some of us have no problem whatsoever with that.
You were fooled by segregation into believing certain segments of the population brought it on themselves. Now the same policies are being applied to everyone. Only money can save you… or can it?
