Holy Shite! Resonate is over the top this year! Featuring Fire, Aerial Silks, Burlesque, Live Art, Amazing DJ’s, Funktion One Sound Systems, State of the Art Lighting, Belly Dancing, Technology, Tarot, Interactive Art and Media, Domes, Glo Art, AcroYoga, Tech Art, Live Music, Art Cars, Art Carts, Body Painting and LOTSA freaks all together in 2 gigantic event spaces and 1 enormous soundstage room!

This ALL brought to you by no less than 172 performance participants, 15 volunteer organizers, and over 50 staff volunteers from the community, across the country, and Canada!! And it’s all Non Profit! This is unreal and unheard of, on any level anywhere around.

Yes… we are crazy! But that’s what makes ‘Resonate’ so much fun! : )

at-large. It embodies the tenets of Radical-Inclusion, Radical Self-Expression, Radical
Self-Reliance and LEAVE NO TRACE!

What can I do to LEAVE NO TRACE at Resonate, you ask?

For starters…

1. BYO CUP – NO BOTTLES OR GLASS!
Refreshments will be available, but only if you bring your own cup to fill.
If you decide you want to bring something special to imbibe (cans, plastic water bottles
or flasks only), please deposit all garbage in the provided receptacles, or come prepared
to take your trash out with you just like on the playa!

2. SMOKERS:
Please BRING YOUR OWN TIN to stash your butts in – Do Not Throw Them On The Ground!

IMPORTANT – PLEASE NOTE:
The main stage area dubbed “The Dirt Room” has a tightly packed, dirt and gravel floor,
so please dress appropriately. Again, think of it as the playa. Perhaps wear boots -
possibly bring goggles (for fun or function) – Wear your playa best, put on your dancing
shoes, set your mind on FUN and get ready for the MOST ANTICIPATED PARTY of the season!!

Remember – RESONATE is a LEAVE NO TRACE event. Be aware and responsible… Protect your
community… Ask first…. And leave no trace.

About Kush Arora:
At first I didn’t get it.. all the electric, glitchy sounds that came from this and that Virtual Synthysizer. Kush Arora would send me track after track, that I could not make heads or tails of.

I was so attuned to standard 4/4 timing that I just figured the kid is crazy… So patiently he took vocals, and remixed them himself. The resulting versions of ‘Spread The Word’, and ‘The Ambassadors’ clashed with my Midwestern, commercial-radio-sheep sensibilities.

Then I listened to it on a big system. All these different things going on gave the songs a whole new life.
Then I saw a video online of people jumping all around to the tracks.
Then.. we performed them Live… OK, OK I get it.!

Everytime someone does a remix, I approach it from that same standpoint. Not ready you say?

Well for Kush’s next album, none of the songs are remixes. “The Dread Bass Cronicles” is his next effort, which features myself, Warrior Queen, Juakali, N4Sa, and Wiseproof.

I have three tracks from said album… all of which were featured by Mix Magazine online, as they have chosen to cover Kush and his studio partner in print form. Their ‘Embarka Studio’ space is being highlighted this month, while Kush’s album is getting love from industry heavyweights.

Believe me, this is not some “cop watch” site… I have written MANY songs concerning police brutality and corruption, but I have also always STOPPED SHORT of the Blanket “FK The Police” declarations.

Reason 1) There are good cops out there.
Reason 2) Good cops are ALSO victims of the corrupt animals with badges.

If you’re a cop reading this, ask yourself: Which One Are YOU?

As someone who’s FATHER was a policeman in the military, I have learned not to make sweeping indictments regarding members of the law enforcement community. But what do you expect people to DO when they see EPISODE AFTER EPISODE of the following???

Seattle Police Deputy Paul Schene Beat 15 Yr. Old Malika Calhoun (Anthony Abbate Style)

“Deputy” Paul Schene:
(I will address you directly, because YOU did this, and you will see this when you Google your name)
What could a 15 year old girl have said, or done to provoke this kind of brutal, animalistic behavior on the behalf of a trusted public official? I would also like to thank Deputy Travis Brunner for not doing a G*Damn thing while his partner savagely attacks someone’s 15 yr. old daughter.

On top of all this, you are a Seattle police officer! I will not pretend it doesn’t get rough in Seattle, because there are people doing badly EVERYWHERE, but imagine if you were in the Bronx… or if you worked the B.A.R.T. in San Francisco. I suspect this poor girl might not be alive to tell the tale.

Now the FOLLOWING is why I do not make sweeping indictments against all police…
The little girl, reportedly did not even complain about the treatment that this degenerate gave her.
(I will NOT say “allegedly”, it’s right there on tape) It took a concientious member of the FORCE to turn the tape in.

Snitch..? FK NO (very soon I will re-educate YOU ALL, regarding the misuse of that term)
There is more danger in people thinking this is “business as usual” with the police, than there is with one more ANIMAL among your ranks, being singled out for their actions.

Some police departments…. This is business as usual. There is no such thing as DUE PROCESS.
Still, since Deputy Schene is only suspended… on PAID leave, I think we know all about The King County Sheriff’s Department in Seattle, Washington, and their policies.

That means take a paid vacation while we figure out how to cover this all up.

Paul Schene’s attorney has offered the meager explanation that ‘she got lippy”, and that there are “two sides to every story”…

I remember when Chris Brown (allegedly, because I did not see a video) beat the hell out of Rihanna. The first thing to come out in terms of a ‘defense’ for him horse-dragging the girl, was that there were “two sides to every story”.

What I wonder is: Whose side of the story is depicted in this video?
