Love Goes Out To Japan From Around The World

Monday, March 14th, 2011

The 9.0 magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami that hit Japan is a catastrophe of the absolute worst proportions. To put it into perspective the publishers of the Richter Scale say that a 10 magnitude earthquake, anywhere on Earth, represents a threat to all human life. We have seen this wave of cataclysmic earthquakes start to grab major headlines with Haiti, and then make its way around the globe, seemingly with increasing intensity.

To concentrate on the utter destruction would be too much. The scope of the damage was made plain on the first day. As of this writing there is still uncertainty now about the state of the nuclear power plants in the area, and the world is watching on pins and needles as the Fukushima power plant teeters on the verge of a meltdown. I for one feel a great sadness for these most honorable people who try to keep their heads up, while now facing their THIRD nuclear crisis in less than a century.

People are attempting to politicize the incident, of course.. calling into question whether or not looting is going on. Well… when society has totally collapsed, it is no longer looting. It is FORAGING. You don’t see Japanese people making their way out of shop windows with Flat screen TVs (like SOME Hurricane Katrina victims). But at the same time the media is not laying in wait for every opportunity to berate them and cast them in a negative light (like they did with ALL Hurricane Katrina victims).

We are going to have to dig deep to help people recover from this one. It could end up being EVERYONE’S problem if we are not careful. For those obsessed with 2012 doom prophecy, this strengthens your argument. It is the LARGEST earthquake in recorded history. Neck and Neck with one of a similar magnitude in Portugal. (1755)
