Monday, March 21st, 2011Stepping lively is a recurring theme in Chicago these days. Not only is the local music scene once again giving rise to a whole new crop of artists on top of their business, but Juke is finally getting the recognition it deserves.

This debuted on Pitchfork this afternoon, and I have to say it is one of the coolest videos I have seen in quite some time. The simplicity and the humor is what grabs me. Murderbot’s latest album “Women’s Studies” is due out on Planet Mu Records later this spring, and Chicago Juke will play a very prominent role.
If you are not familiar with the genre, it’s a great introduction. If you are, you’ll find that regardless of Murderbot’s whimsical approach, mixing Reggae and other genres he likes into it, he pays the proper respect to the artform. Chicago music will be that much better off for it.
